Director of Operations
The Director of Operations is responsible for ensuring that all operations of Haven of the Ozarks run smoothly and must advocate for the best interests of the animals we serve. Haven of the Ozarks is a not for profit organization and is governed by a Board of Directors. The Director of Operations reports directly to the Board of Directors.
Duties include, but are not limited to:

supervising staff members and volunteers

hiring and training
-
delegating work tasks

addressing employee and volunteer concerns

enforcing policies
-
evaluating performance
-
setting schedules
-
maintaining facilities and equipment
-
complying with applicable state laws
-
managing the budget
-
monitoring inventory
-
purchasing
-
interacting with the public, including use of social media and email
-
ensuring that shelter animals receive proper care, including veterinary care and appropriate euthanasia if necessary.

cleaning and maintaining kennels, pens, and facilities and assisting with other chores and animal care duties as needed
The Director of Operations must also perform customer service duties, such as giving facility tours, instructing customers about proper animal care, dealing with complaints, and assisting with adoptions. Additionally, the Director of Operations may be responsible for leading fundraising efforts and fostering good community relations.
Like managers of other facilities, the Director of Operations needs to exhibit tact and effective communications skills to handle tense and emotional situations. Excellent recordkeeping and time management skills are essential for ensuring that documentation is completed on time. The ability to read and interpret documents, do basic math, and perform basic computer functions to keep the organization's records, are a must.
Experience with non-profit management, Animal Shelter Manager, animal care, and dog obedience are a plus.
Requirements:
May include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping and lifting in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine motor coordination to care for animals and use a computer keyboard. Hearing is required to provide telephone and counter services. All shelter staff may at times be around animals that are agitated or injured that may attempt to bite or scratch. This position may need to assist in the lifting and carrying of animals in excess of 50 pounds. Must be able to work with a variety of cleaning agents and a wide range of allergens. Duties may involve working indoors and outdoors with frequent changes in temperature and humidity. Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
